Unisys, a US e-business solutions company have announced that they are planning to cut 1,500 employees from the US operation by offering staff early retirement. Apparently no staff are being offered redundancy incentives in Europe.
This is a result of disappointing third-quarter performance figures and they are also expected to reduce the number of products they will have on sale following a strategic business review. Their aim is to cut from 30 industry-specific solutions down to 15 programs and to continue focussing on key industries such as finance, telecoms, publishing and transportation.
However, the company stated that there were encouraging signs of growth in their network services and order demand for their ES7000 intel-based server line.
