Hello
Just wondering if people can give me an idea of what you would typically pay for a trained consultant to deliver 360 feedback (just the feedback delivery, nothing else). I've not been involved with 360 for a while so it would be really helpful to get a feel for what the going rate is - I know it will be variable, but if you can help, please let me know.
Thank you!
Martine

Re: 360 degree feedback – typical cost of professional feedback
Hi Martine,
You are right that it will be variable – generally depending on a few things:
– Whether an external person provides feedback directly, trains someone internally to do so, or whether reports can be used without specialist training
– Who collects the feedback, collates the results and whether there is a report that an employee receives
– Whether you want to customise the 360 assessment / use a standard template / get a consultant to design this
– Who the feedback is given to, how much preparation and follow-up is required, how long the feedback session is, and how qualified they need to be
– Whether additional training is necessary, or additional group reporting is provided (or lots of other custom options)
– And other factors too, depending on the provider.
Cost-wise, you should expect to pay between £5-£500 (per person being assessed) for a 360. This can be broadly broken down into:
– £5-£49 per person assessed: Tool only – you may find that if you pick the right 360 feedback tool then you won't need external feedback providers, as the reports are designed to be easy enough for managers and employees to understand (my company is an example of this, see pricing https://www.spidergap.com/pricing/) .
– £50-£200 per person assessed: Tool + mandatory training – some tools are complex so require specialist training either for managers, employees, or HR personnel.
– £201-£500 per person assessed: Coaches and consultants (Freelance & part of larger companies) can support you in designing and running your 360, providing feedback etc. Often they'll charge an hourly or daily rate (£900-3000 a day) for these services.
– £501+ per person assessed: I'm confident there are organisations that will offer solutions that cost more than the above, perhaps involving ongoing coaching sessions.
I highlight the above, as even if you want to do everything yourself except have someone else give feedback to the individual, you'll probably find you'll pay £250+ per person as the coach / consultant will need time to plan, get up to speed with the feedback & process, prepare for feedback meetings, conduct the sessions etc.
Hope this helps!
All the best,
Alexis

360 feedback costs
Depending on how many feedback recipients you have, another way of handling feedback sessions is to carry out a teach-in introductory session with the recipients, and then get them to pair up with a colleague within that group to receive and review their feedback, and to formulate any personal development actions. This can dramatically reduce the per-capita costs of feedback facilitation as you need just a half-day of consultant time. There are also advantages in that the group understands fully the nature of the organisation and its activities, and the approach provides a buddy to encourage and support the implementation of development plans. I encourage my clients to adopt this approach, and it works successfully in my NHS Trust clients where 360 is now a regular part of a doctors’ professional development cycle. The costs that Alexis quotes are pretty accurate, although I say that you need to factor in any additional travel costs unless you are OK with telephone feedback.
