As the title suggests, Laurel Alexander’s manual gives you 675 ways to develop yourself and your people. The resource manual is designed as a 'dip-in, dip-out' aid with strategies, ideas and activities for self-development and learning in the workplace. I found the format extremely usable and was able to reproduce many of the resources in training sessions with my colleagues, as well as reflect on my own development through the activities given.
Each of the sections in this manual offers:
The manual covers everything from balancing your work and private life to working with gender difference, or from developing emotional intelligence to using effective questioning.
This is a very usable, concise and practical manual with a flexible format that enables the user to pick out exercises that can be used in isolation or part of a more structured development process. The materials are produced in language and formats that are suitable for a whole range of learners and offers exercises that suit a range of learning styles. The loose-leaf format means that materials can be easily copied for individual activities and training sessions or the manual can be purchased in digital form that can be posted onto the company intranet and accessed by all your staff. I would recommend this manual as an excellent resource that should be part of the training library of all managers and individuals who are interested in developing themselves and their staff.
