Better late than never. By now hopefully most of you have either clean inboxes or at least far fewer emails in the inbox than at the start of the week. Today is about reviewing how well you performed against your goals and how to keep the inbox clean.
Email is but one of many communications channels. Yet we often default to it without ever thinking whether or not it is the best choice. Could a conversation be quicker? When asked in passing do do something, the norm is often to respond with 'put it in an email'. Instead think about taking ownership and using pen and notebook as an aide memoire. Use collaboration tools likeSharePoint for discussions instead of creating endless email trails.
Email addiction is the curse of today's business world. For some the urge to send an email is symptom of email addiciton.
Today's message is to think and work outside the inbox wherever possible. For the full action plan please click here. There you will also find a link to our free on-line email addiction self-assessment tool.
To conclude this Clean Out Your Inbox Week we are also delighted to include three short blogs from David Grossman, a leader in how to develop effective communications strategies. There is also an interview with Nathan Zeldes on how to change the email culture (Nathan is an expert on reducing information overload).
Thank you for joining myself and my fellow email gurus Marsha Egan (of InboxDetox fame) and Steuart Snookes (the Email Tiger).
