Communication – Related Training & Development

I am writing an article on the theme of communication and wondered if there have been any studies made on the level of investment (£ss and time) made into communication training and also what the drive behind the investment is – why invest in communication-related training at all?

Also if anyone has personal experience or stories to tell on the issue of communication in the workplace – eg. any dramas due to lack/breakdown of communication or positive stories, I would be v interested to hear from you.
