Education and Employment Secretary David Blunkett today launched a bold, radical initiative for the new Millennium, aimed at helping more older people back into work.

This latest New Deal is aimed at people over 50 and will come into operation in nine Pathfinder Areas from October before New Deal for 50 plus is rolled out nationally in early 2000.

The Pathfinder Areas will be:

* Black Country;
* City Pride Manchester;
* Dorset;
* Durham;
* Edinburgh East & Midlothian;
* Hull;
* North Derbyshire;
* North East Wales;
* Oxfordshire.
