I am reading a research dissertaion which suggest that there is no literature on the impact on the mentor when working with Board members/CEOs/Directors i.e. the mentors countertransference to the power and affluence of the individual being mentored. Is there anything written out there on this topic?

Key learning points include: identifying a suitable mentor; the difference between a mentor and the line manager; confidentiality and politics; time spans for mentoring relationships; how mentoring discussions work. The programme features psychologist Peter Quarry, interviewing Stephen Schneider, Managing Director, CPS Ltd, UK.

Executive mentoring
I have not seen any specific research into this however I am sure there are sources of information. You may want to take a look at the Coaching & Mentoring Network at http://www.coachingnetwork.org.uk In the Resource Centre you will find in the Articles section a research project report by Carol Gegner into Executive Coaching (tho mainly from the recipient’s viewpoint) plus David Clutterbuck’s book Mentoring Executives & Directors may be a useful reference point. The first chapter is available as a free download from the site too – look under the Mentoring category in the Books section.
David Clutterbuck has undertaken a considerable amount of research into mentoring relationships and I would recommend that you make contact with him – his details are on the website and he will be at the European Mentoring Conference in Cambridge at the end of November.
I hope some of this is helpful – if you want to discuss then please feel free to call me on 0870 733 3313 or annabg@coachingnetwork.org.uk (The Coaching & Mentoring Network is a free information resource).
