A few questions actually.
Any advice on what to look for when checking out distance learning MBAs?
Can anyone advise on a high quality distance learning MBA?
About accreditation: what's the system in the UK for accrediting distance learning MBAs and how can the accreditation of a provider be checked?

Try Henley
I have had a number of managers over the years participate on the Henley programme. All of them have been very positive about the course and the workshop modules.
It is a good programme for a generalist MBA. There are other providers if you want a functional bias.

Is the MBA provider a member of AMBA?
AMBA, the Association of MBAs, is the ‘kitemark’ for MBAs in the UK. MBAs very greatly in their standards; of around 130+ MBAs in the UK only around 40 are in AMBA and only 8 (I think) distance learning MBAs are accredited.
The first distance learning MBA to achieve AMBA status is also the largest MBA programme in Europe: the Open Univeristy Business School. It’s no easy option, but the courses available are outstanding. Visit http://www.oubs.open.ac.uk
Accreditation is through the Association of MBAs
MBAs are accredited though the Association of MBAs – much more information at http://www.mba.org.uk For what its worth I did a distance learning MBA at Warwick – fully accredited by the AMBA and it was very good indeed.
This is my personal opinion and does not indicate any Departmental view:)

Completion of MBA
I’ve just finished studying my MBA with the Open University. It is a very good course although not cheap if you’re funding it yourself. You get all your course materials, etc and on line tutorial and phone support as well as face to face group tutorial and most courses have residential days. It is also one of the few accredited MBA’s.
AMBA / OUBS course / Support
Agree with comments about AMBA accreditation – make sure whichever you choose has that.
I did the OUBS MBA – a real advantage is that the reading material has been sifted and thus saves some time. Material is superb compared to other providers I have seen.
Compared to some other MBAs the assignments are almost all directed to your organisation thus putting your learning into action right away.
It is often recognised by others that OUBS MBA is in someways more thorough – and thus may be more work – but I feel this is because of the distance learning delivery.
Check out the support you get from each provider – eg tutorials/seminars/residentials and online discussion groups – since one of the differences with distance course can be the “relative” isolation.
Choose, learn and enjoy
OUBS MBA gets my vote too!!
As a member of AMBA I fully support the views expressed thus far.
I got my MBA with OUBS in ’96 and can testify to the quality of the course and the materials.
My advice is to get involved in any tutorial support groups you can because they are a godsend Sunday afternoon when you are finishing an assignment that has to be in the post Monday and you have a mental block!!!!
