I am looking for some benchmark training statistics - days off-job training per employee, spend per employee, spend as a %age of turnover or wage bill, that type of thing - in the large manufacturing (1000+ employees) category, to include in comparison figures for a Training Plan I am putting together for the company which I have just joined. Their average off-job days per employee in 2001 were around 1.5 days, and identifiable spend (course fees & costs, trainee wages & costs, employee wages whilst training) around 0.5% of turnover. I 'feel' both figures are low, but need the comparative data.

There is some interesting benchmark information around training spend/budget in the following:-
