A Company with whom I work as the Investors in People Consultant has just been accredited and now wishes to follow up the work done by setting some KPI's aimed at the HR side of the business.
Ones that I can think of are measuring the number of appraisals that come in on time, evaluations of traning received, training objectives set by Managers and identified training being delivered.
I am now at a loss as to what else to measure. Can anyone help with some ideas please?

KPIs – some thoughts
KPIs are great, so long as you don’t let them rule you, and they do something useful for you, the dept or the company. I once worked for an organisation and we had 196 monthly KPIs to report on – and that took man days of effort every month to compile!
I’d settle for no more than 7 if possible.
Staff turnover rates, number of ‘on-spec’ requests for employment, how quickly identified training needs are met, how quickly requests for info are met or problems are solved, cost benefits of internally delivered courses over commercially available ones, number of accidents and associated costs, how quickly job vacancies are filled
The list goes on!!
KPI’s for HR
What you are proposing to measure are standard process output/input methods.
HR should be a strategic function underpinning the objectives of the organisation. How about measuring these instead? Training specifically to meet business targets, recruiting right fit first time, developing behavioural performance measurments….
Key Performance Indicators
I am also trying to put together some KPI’s for our HR department. I wonder if you have had any further success in obtaining information on KPIs?
Many thanks.
