From April 17th, ntl start the bidding war for free internet calls across the UK.
It's not quite that simple though - a visit to their website at ask ntl will run a search on your postcode to find out whether ntl can actually supply their cable service to your address - the answer may be no at present. If you don't have ntl cable supply, you can still use the service by running your phone calls through the ntl lines from your existing BT socket.
There are also call charges involved, and customers will need to make £10 of non-internet related calls a month.

Cable Modem Access
NTL are also offering ‘always on’ internet access in some areas now if you have cable available already. This should offer speeds faster than ISDN, the downside being you will have to purchase a special cable modem.
