  1. induction – assistance
I have experience with induction and the best words of advice I can offer is a) Look strategically at what you want to achieve and where possible identify the area’s of ‘ need to know ‘ and ‘nice to know’ This may sound rather simplistic but far too often its the ‘basics’ that are missing and people tend to make alot of assumptions about knowledge. Validate the outcome with a quick questionnaire and get the group to interact by swapping questions and answers. Get everyone to put a question on a board and get someone else to answer. If this info isn’t of the type you need or sufficient/too general – mail me with specifics – if I can I will help.

  2. Higher Education Induction Programmes
NTS Management Training has worked with Lancaster University Management school to develop (and deliver) innovative induction programmes for their full time MBA and BBA programmes among others. In the UK we also work with Warwick, Manchester and Exeter Universities as well as large and small businesses.

NTS has offices in Lancaster, Banbury and Madrid.

Please e.mail me at timoconnor@btinternet.com with more detail about what programmes you are developing inductions for and we can explore whether our expertise can be of use to you.

  3. The self managed process of induction
Calibre Learning has worked in HE, and elswhere, on the design of induction programmes which can in part be run on a self-managed basis with the support of colleagues and managers.

This recognises the fact that most induction events are ritualistic and mistimed. Induction needs to modelled more closely on the real aspirations and ‘needs to know’ of new staff.

Sharon. maybe I can tell you more when when I’m in Coventry next week (ref. Trudy)
