I am working with a group of young people on a training for work programme. Most of them have limited literacy and numeracy skills and some have communication problems as well.
Does anyone have or able to recommend suitable materials for use with such a group especially to develop communication & listening skills and teamwork.

One and two-way communication
There is an exercise that illustrates the advantages and disadvantages of one and two-way communication.
One person communicates (through speach alone)a 2-D shape that only he or she can see. The group needs to follow the instructions and try to draw the shape. The first time is done through one-way communication, the second time the group is allowed to ask questions. The feedback session at the end not only illustrates the difficulties that both the person in front and the rest of the group encountered when doing the exercises, but also the barriers to communication.
