Putting your material online

default-16x9

Does anyone have any recommendations about simple products that can be used to put existing learning material online, without needing specialist training on tools like dreamweaver etc. The only product I have been told about so far is Trainersoft.

I hope this doesn’t turn into a blatant advert!

There are various solutions, depending on how complex the subject matter is and how much time it will take to download.

If it is for an intranet, you might consider doing it in Word or PowerPoint, you may even have the material in that format anyway. You just need a set of web pages to hang it all off.

For am internet based system, I have yet to find a solution that offers usable speeds with useable content. This hinges on what your objectives are, and your subject matter. We have not managed to find a training project suited to this medium yet.

The only thing I would point out is that if its easy to create and deploy, it will be limited in its scope. The golden rule of this never to underestimate the amount of time it takes to get a project together.

We have produced solutions ranging from £2000 (Courseware for 30 courses on 1CD rom and a user interface) to (£x0,000 for one very media rich and interactive set of CDs). In between, we have deployed training notes on an intranet in Word & PowerPoint. I know which I would prefer to use.

    Hope this helps

  2. Online Training packages
    Gareth,
It might depend on what youre planning on doing with it, but I know of an entirely free system thats easy to use pure internet training.
Drop me a line with a note about what your plans are and I’ll tell you more.

  3. try FrontPage
Lots of tools around – try Front Page, very capable for beginners and quite flexible, Power Point is OK, then you move in to the realm of usually learning packages and paying lots of money. As said by others – depends on what you want to do with it and what the content is. We do this for a living and it is not as easy as you may first think – it takes time (and skill) to design good material that works well and achieves learning.
