Spent most of today getting a course ready for the beginning of September which will be presented by two of our senior staff. We have been sent some notes for them from our national team but they need adapting to our office. There are also some slides and I needed to adapt these. One of the people was in today so I could talk him through the presentation and make sure he was prepared, the other is on holiday, so a long discussion with his secretary to find a time when we could meet up.

A query about whether we pay membership fees for the junior law society.

Answered a query about training contracts.

Attended a short presentation practice by a group of secretarial coaches who are doing a presentation to the head of department next week about their role.

Took part in a review meeting about a group of students on placement with us this week to assess their performance to date.

Thought about how on earth to design a training programme to enhance our telephone skills across the firm - I want to approach it in a new and different way, rather than arrange yet another training course on telephone skills.

Worried about how best to support other members of the team.

Went swimming and took a decent lunch break.

Talked through a project that a group of partners are doing for Leeds Cares with the administrator for their team.

Gave advice on budgets for a team.

Talk through some career options with a new member of staff in the library team.

Agreed to send a video of the AGM to someone.

Advised a partner about suitable mentors for someone in his team.

And....lots more of this.

I hope this helps give a flavour of a typical busy but fairly non productive day!
