Quality assurance is leading most packaging companies towards ISO 9000 registration. The Pharmaceutical Quality Group (PQG) of the Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA) has produced a code of practice - PS 9000 - which details the application of ISO 9000:2000 to suppliers of pharmaceutical printed and contact packaging materials.
Over 60 suppliers throughout Europe have taken the opportunity to extend the scope of their ISO 9000 certification to comply with the pharmaceutical supplier code of practice. This standard acknowledges the current agreed expectations of the quality systems as they relate both to GMP and ISO 9001:2000.
