The Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA) has been selected to host Q2002, the world quality congress on behalf of the European Organization for Quality (EOQ), bringing the event to the UK for the first time in over twenty years.

Q2002 will bring key speakers from the public and private sectors together to examine quality issues affecting all areas of life, ranging from business to healthcare and from manufacturing to education. Held at the Harrogate International Centre, Q2002 will feature presentations from world experts in quality as well as high profile business and industry leaders. Lord Sainsbury will give the opening plenary and key speakers include Dr Roger Cliffe, the director of quality at Lloyds TSB, and Alan Jones from TNT Express.

The programme covers contemporary business and societal issues with session titles including: ‘Happy customers and healthy profits – the importance of customer satisfaction’, ‘eQuality - keeping up with the times’, ‘Does size matter? – quality and SMEs’, ‘Quality goes back to school - education and training’ and ‘Quality in healthcare – shared solutions’.

Director general of the IQA Frank Steer commented: ‘Q2002 is not only an important event for those directly involved in quality management but for anyone to whom customer service, safety standards and service levels are important. In the current fast-paced business environment we are working to ensure quality and standards are not compromised in order to meet increasing demands and higher targets.’

As the professional institute for quality and quality management in the UK, the IQA provides training and support for quality professionals and individuals responsible for quality management. The IQA aims to promote quality in both manufacturing and service industries as well as throughout the public and private sectors.
