Have you ever been in a shop and suddenly seen an item that you've always wanted? If you have, maybe like me you've thought, "How long has that been available? How come I've missed it before? Why didn't someone tell me?"
Well, it's happened to me again, just now, on the web! And it's free!
Every day I trawl through news sites, government sites, NGO sites, commercial sites, other community sites looking for press releases, training news and HR news for the TrainingZONE and HR Zone communities.
I was just scrolling through the pages of the Electronic Telegraph - and yes, I think that you have to register to use the site - when in the right hand column of the home page an article headed 'Connected: Free IT Training' caught my eye. Well, it's a bit too tempting for an old IT training person like me!
A mouse click later and I was looking at a page titled 'Boot Camp Week 132: Paranoia!' - an excellent piece on computer privacy and how your PC and browser store information about where you go on the internet. It's good basic stuff, which would help many non-techie people to understand their PC better.
Down the left hand side of that page were the previous 131 weeks of Boot Camp contributions - far too much to list here, but again good basic information, full of tips and pointers.
I know that I need to look into the site much more deeply than I have done so far, but if there's anyone else out there, who, like me, regularly kicks themselves for being such a dork at missing this sort of resource, fret not! We all do it!
