Sheffield - c. £50,000
It's essential that our learning resources and course specifications match the twin impetuses of both fast-changing learning technologies, and varied learner needs. Reporting to the Director of Learning, you'll assess the whole range of on-line and digital resource offerings to keep us in the vanguard of learning practice. You'll be considering the needs of experienced and non-traditional learners, and identifying methods and approaches suitable to both groups. Using your knowledge of developments in this field, you'll also help to develop methods of on-line assessment and distance support.
With a background in the development of learning products, including collaboration with the creative and media industries, you'll understand the whole learning process and have worked with a wide range of learners. Your knowledge should cover the application of new media in learning, and you'll understand the principles of open learning. With strong links to the work of the ICT team you will be working in a team, and under pressure; and you should be able to put your knowledge of major contributors to the learning resources market in good use in selecting and developing products. Head of Learning Research and Development
Sheffield Bufi 72
Sheffield - c. £40,000
Crucial to our effective provision of learning resources is evaluating the experience of the learner. You'll ensure that we develop our learning provision in direct relation to the background and potential of our learner pool. Reporting to the Director of Learning, your main responsibility will be to make sure our educational practice is both proven and effective.
Using evidence gathered both internally and externally, of learner behaviours in both open and computer-aided contexts, you'll help us to incorporate important elements of the results into the design of our learning models. You'll also work with our Marketing team to ensure that the lessons learnt are passed on through marketing communications.
Liaison with projects such as ADAPT and ESRC programmes will aid the development of evidence capture and interpretation.
Your experience of user research will have ideally been gained in a learning environment, and you will of course be able to interpret findings effectively and accurately, in order to improve service provision. You should understand your contribution to Ufi's work as primarily helping learners to benefit from your interaction with others, and you should have an up-to-date knowledge of ICT resources used in learning. Much of your work will take place in cross-disciplinary teams working across the organisation, and you will need to demonstrate experience in a similar environment. Reference: BUFI72
