A one-day workshop on the role and value of arts-related approaches to business training has been organised by Steps Role Play, the drama-based training specialist.
Called Creativity for Development, the workshop will provide taster-sessions of a range of innovative yet proven developmental approaches which can effect changes in attitude and behaviour in the workplace.
HR professionals and line managers will take part in four sessions covering art, music, storytelling and drama-based training.
“The workshop marks the growing interest by business in arts-based development,” said Janet Rawson, Director of Steps Role Play. “It’s an opportunity to experience four different arts-based training styles and to evaluate first-hand these original and exciting ways of putting across key training messages.”
Steps Role Play will be presenting the drama-based training session. The three other companies exhibiting and presenting at the workshop are: the Creative Knowledge Company, which organises workshops on organisational creativity, using artists’ techniques, in association with the Royal Academy of Arts; the Polmear Ambache Duo, who have been teaching the subject of music for creativity at City University Business School for ten years, and Storytelling in Organisations, which uses stories to help employees relate to issues such as teamwork and organisational change.
“The four companies involved are all dedicated to using techniques from the arts to enhance business capabilities and innovation in the workforce,” said Janet Rawson. “It will be a highly participative workshop which will offer some fresh perspectives on individual and organisational development.”
Priced £100, the event will take place on Friday 29 September, 10am-6pm, onboard HMS Belfast - the Imperial War Museum's second World War cruiser, moored on the River Thames near London Bridge.
