Editor's note
=============
It's been a busy week for the e-learning industry. Private and
public sector organisations have been meeting behind closed
doors to agree a set of standards for their e-learning
requirements/offerings, while the government's e-learning Task
Force has published its recommendation that ICT training should
be a free entitlement, delivered online.
There's been a lot of discussion this week within the Any Answers
section of the website regarding which of the major training
bodies are the best representation for training professionals
within the UK. Do these bodies do enough for the trainer or
Training Manager? Do you feel supported or neglected by them?
You decide by replying online at

p.s. you can view the latest installment of our '10 questions
for Training Managers' now at

This week, Vivienne Morris of Rail Gourmet gives her responses.

What's the training market worth?
---------------------------------
Did you know? The training market in the UK is estimated to be
worth between 3.5bn GBP and 4bn GBP a year. That's according to
leading market research analysts Key Note, who have published
their latest comprehensive review of the private sector training
market. According to the research, there was a fall in the
growth of the training market last year, due in part to a move
towards more in-house training. Technology-based training is
less popular than expected, with e-learning being used for
specific purposes. On a brighter note, Key Note forecasts a
return to growth in 2004. Key Note reports are invaluable for
anyone wishing to track developments in their own industry or
others - and this is no exception. Purchase a snapshot, digest
or the full report on training - and access free sample reports -

The Learning Bank is a compendium of 50 original activities
designed for use within training sessions and workshops. All of
the activities have been designed with particular learning aims
in mind. Author David Smith has spent the last 12 years designing
and delivering training programmes for a number of blue chip
companies and not-for-profit organisations in the UK and Europe.
At just 199 GBP, the Learning Bank is well worth investing in!
