The British Computer Society has announced a comprehensive relaunch of the services it offers in a bid to better meet the training needs of the IT industry.

Launched in 1957, and currently the only chartered professional Institution for information systems engineering, the British Computer Society aims to ".... promote the study and practice of Computing and to advance knowledge therein for the benefit of the public".

Along with a new identity, the Society plans to greatly expand its current training and professional development provision, including an advanced version of the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), and will offer flexible study options for those wishing to study for professional qualifications such as the degree-level BCS Professional Examination, and the information systems exams it offers through the Information Systems Examining Board.

The BCS is currently revamping its website, and plans to include support for career development such as an online career logbook on the site.
