CAREER HISTORY
Principal Consultant, Continuum (August 1999 – to date)
Continuum is a diversified consultancy helping clients plan, implement and sustain Organisational Growth. Key areas are Marketing, Ecommerce, Organisational Development, Change and Knowledge Management. As a Principal Consultant, I am expected to build the marketing strategy for the company, source work and deliver or manage the delivery of projects.
Project Work
Head of Change – Solicitors Indemnity Fund (p/t August 1999 to date)
Management of the change from mutual status to a proposed commercialisation of the organisation through to the eventual merger with a large US insurer. Introduced process, structural and cultural changes and a move to team working and professional management. Created systems and processes to change cultural factors, built new marketing plans, facilitated e-commerce strategy and integration of Insurance software.
Change Consultant – Vauxhall Motors
Working with an internal consultancy team to build a harmonised top team following an organisational restructure and a cultural change involving some 350 Sales, Marketing and Customer Care people. Created an organisational review process, team building processes and one to one mentoring schemes to create behavioural change as well as recreating Business Planning, OD and HRM strategies to change metrics, structures and culture.
Career and Change Management – Vertex Data Sciences
Created a specific process to ‘manage out’ a number of people following an organisational restructure. ‘Careerpoint’ became a successful mechanism helping 70 people leave the organisation, minimising risk from litigation and reinforcing cultural positives.
Ecommerce Consultancy
Created Joint Venture structure with a Top 20 firm of Accountants to provide Ecommerce consultancy and advice to SME marketplace. Projects have included creation of Recruitment Company and associated web strategy, provision of niche tax and legal services via the web and web strategy for the CAEI as shown below. Delivered a range of operational and HRM advice to a number of Internet companies in the UK and in Europe.
Marketing Director – Centre for Applied Emotional Intelligence
Wrote and presented Marketing Strategy, creating strong brand position and revenue streams from a variety of sources as a result of internal Knowledge Management protection. Adapted business plan for presentation to interested funding bodies. Executed successful marketing actions including best stand at Training Solutions 2000, PR presence in 17 journal/media within 9 weeks of project commencing and all sales targets exceeded to date.
Director, CSA Management Consultants (June 1992 - July 1999)
CSA was a diversified HR and Change Consultancy helping clients drive Strategy and Operational Effectiveness through their Human Resources. Implementation was delivered through thriving autonomous group divisions, which included Resourcing, Counselling, and Development. Reporting directly to a single shareholder, the role was to devise and implement a strategy to deliver agreed shareholder return and business mission.
Consultancy Projects include:
- Led team to integrate two sales forces in merger between Lloyds and TSB Banks
- Led change projects to build a new customer service culture at a vehicle manufacturer
- Built strategies and processes for customer growth and internal communications, cascading them into operational and performance objectives
- Devised Career and Knowledge Management strategies for utilities company
- Acted as advisor to internal change team during a major demutualisation programme
- Developed Stepping Stones, an integrated internal mobility and career management process for a computer manufacturer utilising KM strategies for added skills mobility
- Built programmes to measure Emotional Intelligence competencies and monitor progress
- Created an innovative Development plan for an IT networks company, linking the results to personal and organisational succession and development
- Advised on people aspects of change during a major IT - Led projects to resolve people issues and conflicts within organisations in order to increase individual and team performance.
- Delivered a range of Training and Development programmes and workshops for clients, especially around management development, change, team working, branding and innovation. Clients included: AA, Colt Telecoms, Corus Hotels, Telegraph Newspapers.
- Led major project to close a Northern computer factory, relocating staff to London and outplacing the remaining 400 people
