Echelon CD-ROM Library of Individual Training and Self-development Activities
Published by Echelon

David Hill of the Echelon Learning Ltd has done it again. With the issue of the CD-ROM Library of Individual Training and Self-Development Activities, Echelon is the first UK company to produce this offer to training practitioners of searching for and purchasing individual or multiple units of training activities. This follows his ‘First first’ when the www.trainingmatters.com website was launched at the start of 1999 with thumbnail summaries of all the activities (about 1000) published in ringbinder form by Echelon.

This CD-ROM saves potential purchasers from having to use the Internet to obtain specific activity information – something cried for by trainers for some years. The CD contains 600 activities in quite generous summary form, searchable in a number of ways and capable of being ordered from the CD. The topics included range from audits, career planning and coaching; through goal setting, induction and management development; to telephone service skills and virtual team management.

Four specimen, full activities are also on the CD – a training activity: ‘Surprise Store: How to Wow the Customers’; a self-development activity ‘Your Voice Personality’; a trainer/self-development sheet for learning management record and review; and a learning co-ordinator’s sheet for learning management record and review.

This initial browser CD-ROM is free (obtainable from Echelon Learning Ltd, Darwin House, 236 South Ealing Rd, LONDON W5 4RP – tel. 0181 568 1500). The leaflet accompanying the CD-ROM also describes an annual library service in which a set of 10 CD-ROMs forming the complete library of Published activities (the cost works out at £49.90 per CD per month), or the facility of creating your own Learning Programme or mini Learning Library on your own CD. This service costs £199 for up to 10 activities, with each selected activity afterwards costing £15.

This service is an excellent supplement to the website facility mentioned and widens the range of activity identification and purchase facilities for trainers.
