"The University for Industry should be able to bring to small businesses a wealth of cost-effective opportunities for improving the skills of their employees. However, many of these opportunities will depend on the use of Information and Learning Technology (ILT). For learners to be able to take full advantage of this, they themselves will need support.
Learners at Work is a two year project to identify the support needed by learners using ILT in the workplace.
The project focuses on the support of learners in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who are coping with rapid technological and organisational change and will consider:

* the role of advice and guidance in the workplace
* learning to learn skills
* learner centred induction processes
* basic skills - literacy, numeracy, communication
* the particular needs of disabled workers and employees with specific learning difficulties. "
