Review of http://www.trainingdecisions.com
Web site published by TrainingDecisions, Netdecisions Ltd
This varied Web site provides a wealth of information for trainers in an easy-to-use format. One of the most helpful features could be the Training Networks where trainers can post comments and questions. Several of the questions posted, however, were more than six months old with no responses. That should change when the site becomes more well-known and visited by more trainers.
I found a useful article on becoming more Internet/Intranet savvy to promote training within an organization. In addition, the featured book review was interesting. Links to training-related Web sites and online publications were easy to navigate and netted an evening’s reading of helpful information.
An unexpected feature of the site was its Web design and Web hosting capabilities – a plus for a trainer looking to develop his or her presence on the Web.
A number of places within the Web site invited reader’s input via e-mail.
A few minor downsides to the site: One of the features promoted a conference in December 1999. The information had not been updated; it was still there in March. I experienced difficulty signing up for the Training Networks, but finally was able to do so in a "through the back door" manner. Also, once I got far into the networks I had to use the browser’s "back" button a number of times to exit the area. A "home" button would have been very useful for quick exit.
All in all, I found this to be a very informative site. You won’t waste a lot of time downloading fancy graphics – they’re not there. But you will feel that the site is well worth the time you spend in it.
