TrainingZONE wonders how many of it’s IT Training members remember when WordPerfect was the software to use.
Because Microsoft XP Office has been given so much of the limelight of late, we thought it would be appropriate to have a reminder that there are still other software applications on the market.
With this in mind we take a trip down memory lane, and you do not have to be too old to remember, when WordPerfect was the software of its’ day. These were the days before Microsoft had quite hit the mark where software popularity was concerned, before the advent of Windows and the Office suite. WordPerfect was originally running from DOS, with the introduction of Windows, Corel offered WordPerfect for Windows. Those who used the old DOS WordPerfect, which was a truly excellent application for that time, will remember the ensuing ‘war’ between the DOS users and the Windows users. There were magazines dedicated to each and the magazines contained columns detailing how each was superior to the other!
Within a very short time both had receded into the twilight, though it is only fair to comment that there are still dedicated users to this day and the users have a members website.
However, putting aside the nostalgia, WordPerfect is still alive and kicking, Corel have recently launched WordPerfect 2002 and you can read more about this at the website Corel UK.
If you have time to spare for a little fun you can evaluate WordPerfect 2002 online at: Runaware WordPerfect Office 2002. You will have to hurry - the offer finishes at the end of April!
