Dr Mark McKergow is a consultant and trainer specialising in accelerated learning, management development solution focussed change. Following a doctoral degree, Mark began his career as a physicist in the electricity generation industry, where he held management positions in production (in nuclear power stations) and headquarters settings. Mark went on to manage the training aspects of business performance improvement and cultural change.

A full-time consultant since1992, Mark McKergow has a wealth of experience in the application of accelerated learning methods in business. He has also designed and run management development programmes for top-level and middle managers. He has presented on complexity and accelerated learning in Europe, the United States, the former Soviet Union and South Africa. Recent clients include Clerical Medical Investment Group, British Nuclear Fuels, Tesco, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Imperial College London.

Mark has been using accelerated learning methods in his own work since 1990, and is now one of the UK's most sought-after speakers and consultants in the field. A recent project with British Nuclear Fuels has resulted in the saving of over $1000 per learner per week in a suite of technical training courses. He is also one of the very few people in the UK to have carefully studied and acted on the full range of ways in which music can be applied in the training room.

Mark's other consuming interest is in the development of solution focused change models and programmes for organisations. He is a pioneer in the use of these methods in the organisational context, and his book 'The Solutions Focus' (co-authored with Bristol Solutions Group colleague Paul Z Jackson) will be published by Nicholas Brealey in 2001.

Mark writes for journals and other publications on management development topics. He is a member of the Strategic Planning Society, the Association for Management Education and Development, the Association of MBAs, the Association for NLP, the Society for Effective Affective Learning (SEAL) and the International Alliance for Learning (IAL), and reviews business books for NLP World. He has presented at both the SEAL and IAL conferences. He is also a jazz saxophonist.
