A new international study by Korn / Ferry and the University of Southern California explores how to retain top knowledge workers in the new economy (Business Wire)
The Internet and the new knowledge economy have created further pressures on companies to retain top talent - but companies are finding ways to forge new psychological contracts between employee and employer, according to a global study.
The study identifies four key strategies that will motivate employees and increase their commitment to the organization:
* Make sure employees understand the company's strategy for the future. They need to feel that the company will be a leader in its industry and will continue to provide interesting work.
* Share the skills that will be needed in the future and work with employees to help them gain these new competencies so they feel they have more stake in the company's success.
* Adopt a broad view of training and development, including visits with customers, suppliers and partner companies.
* Tie reward policies closely to the business performance of the team or organization.
