With a hundred days to go until the Learning and Skills Council takes over its responsibilities for real, the Training & Employment Network (TEN) and the National Training Federation (NTF) are running a conference later this week to give anyone likely to be affected by the changes a chance to have a final say in the decisions likely to be made in the LSC's first year of operation.

The conference, taking place on Thursday and Friday in London, will host debates on the transition plans, shaping the skills agenda, the likely future design of New Deal and other work programmes, Among those speaking will be Jacqui Henderson, Executive Director Designate, London Central LSC, Simon Ellis, London Skills Forecasting Unit, Christine Towney, Development Officer, Basic Skills Agency and a number of representatives from the Department for Education and Employment. Sessions are to include 'Governance and membership of local LSCs: Learning Partnerships', 'The Standards and Quality Agenda', 'Basic Skills provision' and 'Key Skills and the reformed Modern Apprenticeships Frameworks'.

Places are still available at the conference and can be booked by ringing 020-7582-7221 ext 206 or faxing through the booking form available at www.lsc100days.org.uk.
