Hello all,
I am looking for an activity that is already constructed that I can adapt slightly to fit my audience. Time restraints and current workloads mean I cannot construct this myself otherwise I would happily create this from scratch.
Aim of the activity is to develop sustainable energy awareness in 14-16 year olds and test their developing business skills.
We brainstormed this and as a group produced several ideas but the one that fit the criteria best was to give each group of students a bogus company and a bulk of stats regarding budgets, last years spend on energy, staff recycling and culture habits and so on. We then wanted to teach each group about renewable energy and give them the oppourtunity to buy these for their company to improve their sustainability. Most money saved or carbon foot print reduced kind of thing wins x amount of points. As you can imagine this would take quite a bit of detailed work and I just haven't got the time in my day currently. So any one who knows of something similar to this that could be adapted with minimal effort please get in touch.
Many thanks!

Have you checked the Carbon Trust or Defra’s website
Emma, it may be worth checking the websites for Carbon Trust (http://www.carbontrust.co.uk/default.ct) and Envirowise (http://www.envirowise.gov.uk/uk/Our-Services.html).
If looking for online interactive game to link energy use and carbon emissions, visit the Direct Gov act on CO2 website (http://actonco2.direct.gov.uk/index.html)
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Environmental Awareness
Hi
I think it was G K Chesterton who said that if you want to make something real-you make it local! With that in mind, why not emulate our approach in our active citizenship training programmes? We approached our County and District Councils for details of their green audits-criteria,benchmarks,achievements etc, set against the prevailing social atlas and community profile of the area in which the training is based.
You can use this REAL TIME material for mini green audits, eco treasure hunts and indeed as input to the local authorities policies and procedures. You will also find that the local govt departments, usually environmental health and/or planning/regeneration, will have lots of free resources, give you access to their departments and signpost you well. And you might even identify some grot spots and brown sites.Don’t forget the in house value of green audits on training provision and employment practices/office conditions
You will have real LOCAL GREEN FUN!
