Hello All,
I am currently on a project team that is looking at Leadership Training within a Youth Organisation.
The first part of our research is to come up with a definition we can use for the following -
LEADERSHIP
MANAGEMENT
COACHING
MENTORING.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards

LEADERSHIP
Hi Dean
Leadership- “The relationship between those who choose to lead and those who choose to follow”- this apparently came from the Industrial Society and is IMHO the best and most comprehensive definition of a notoriously slippery subject.
I hope this helps

Leadership, Management, Coaching and Mentoring
These words are often interchanged and often over defined. I have simple views of what each of these mean.
Leadership – Leading, deciding the path to take, setting the strategy for others to follow and to work out how to achieve the goals of the strategy. At times, everyone demonstrates leadership.
Management – Managing a process, a business or people. Understanding what the goals are and enabling resources (people and process) to achieve those goals.
Coaching – helping an individual or a team access their own resources that will help them move in a direction that they decide. Coaches are not necessarily experts in a business field such as marketing or sales but they are experts in helping others use their individual resources and talents.
Mentoring – A mentor is an expert in a field or discipline that can give specific advice, direction and input. Their area of expertise could be broad or focused.
