I am the Sales Manager of a small start up training organisation, which is a spin off from an FE college selling short business and management courses. I have come across a tender recently that has asked for the courses to be CPD recognised. How does one go about doing this? Ie do you have to be assessed etc for these purposes? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

CPD recognised??
Hi Vicky
the only answer to this is “it all depends”
If the training is for certain professionals – doctor, accountants etc – then the CPD will need to be recognised by their professional body. In most situations there is no such thing – however what many providers do is to obtain ILM or CMI recognition for their courses – this is a typical route.
Hope this helps

CPD recognition
Vicky
You don’t say the focus of this development or the professionals it is targeted at so it is hard to give much of a steer. The first step is to identify the relevant professional body and then approach them for advice. Each body has different expectations, criteria and proceeedures. I doubt you would be able to gain approval in advance of any tender deadline but it may be worth getting CPD recognition anyway – if you run open courses or other form of suitable development – as it could be beneficial in future.
Best of luck
Graham
