Innovative training

default-16x9

I have been a trainer for more years than I can remember and i am looking for change. We tend to train using tried and tested techniques and although we all add our own brand to what we do its still much of a muchness. I'm not looking to change what i do only the way i do it, so, does anyone out there have any new innovative ideas for training that they wouldnt mind sharing with me.

  1. Participative Training.

Training has for the longest time been something that we “Do” to people, in the same way that management is “Done” to people.

We are at the dawn of a new understanding of the power that we can generate when instead of “Doing” things to other people, we take a step back and find out what they need before blindly delivering a formula that we have continued to use, not because it is right, but because we have never had any alternative.

We are in the process of developing this new participative training on a number of fronts.

If this sounds like the new direction you are seeking let me know.

  2. you can only change the way YOU train

At the risk of sounding confrontational you are seeking a change for the way YOU train (or manage learning)

Perhaps you are a great trainer in which case perhaps you would better serve your delegates by staying the same!

Perhaps you are dull as ditchwater and utterly uninspiring (perhaps, but unlikely) in which case well done for wanting to change.

Tried and tested can be good but something else may be better

    Good luck

  3. try something new
It is easy to use training techniques that you are comfortable with but this can become tedious.
Try to use a technique that you are unfamiliar with like teaching without talking, role play, active teaching etc.
Geoff Petty has an excellent website dedicated to using diferent teaching methods and some useful tools to evaluate your teaching styles.

Try something that scares you. It makes life more interesting.
