Hello,
I am currently working in USA as a HR Manager. I have a Masters in Human Resource Development from US University. I am looking to move to Bristol and looking to make a career in training and Developement. I did research some of the job positions in UK and found out about CIPD certification. I would appreciate any help or direction regarding the same. Please email me or post you reply on the website.

Lets see what we can do to help.
If you are a member of ASTD you might try contacting the UK chapter for some help and advice. You could join CIPD as an associate member but your masters won’t give you automatic entry at one of the higher levels. Joining may be useful as they have a local group in Bristol. It would also mean you get their bi-weekly magazine, People Management, which is good for job adverts. Alternatively you might approach ITOL (www.traininginstitute.co.uk) – it is more likely they will consider you for a higher level of membership.
The other magazine to look out for is Personnel Today as they also list a lot of jobs (www.personneltoday.com).
If you are not familiar with the UK market, you may find some differences. The US is often ahead of us on e-learning and instructional design. However, the UK tends to be better on the broader range of training techniques. Experience in HR may be useful but it depends on what type of training you are experienced in. In some areas sector experience is important, so you may want to start with the types of organisations you are more familiar with.
I hope others can offer further advice.
Best of luck!
Graham
