Hi all,
I train in "soft skills" and have come across a number of feedback models. I have been asked by a client about EEC feedback model. Anyone heard of it and where I can find out more?
Thanks

european it isn’t!
The EEC feedback model is a very simple mnemonic for
Explain
Effect
Change/Congratulate
~explain the behaviour you have observed
~describe the effect this behaviour is having
~seek to agree or define the changes that need to be made to the behaviour (in the event that the performance needs improving) or congratulate the individual for their performance (in the event that you are using it as positive reinforcement.)
I don’t know where it originates but I first came across it last year when working with M&S
Hope this helps

EEC model
We have used this model for many years. Our versions is:
Event – what happened, what did the person do
Effect – was result did this have on you
Coach / counsel to bring about change
Like mant simple models it is very effective in getting the message home.
Use of EEC
Like Russ Slater, I have used the E.E. as EXAMPLE, and EFFECT (on the individual, the team, the manager, the department, the customer) – in other words the What and the Why. For the C, I do use CHANGE, or CONTINUE if it is telling someone where they have done well.
I also encourage managers to think about their style when using the model. Autocratic managers will be in telling mode. More participative managers will be asking questions such as ‘What do you think was the effect? What do you think team members thought about what you did?’ At the CHANGE, : ‘What would you do differently next time?
Hope that helps

EEC stands for what?
Isn’t it interesting that we have three different answers to “What does EEC stand for in the feedback arena?
CSMART apparently has 000’s of permutations.
Should we consider this “good”;
~we don’t reinvent the wheel but we evolve and adapt proven ideas
….or should we consider this “bad”;
~as a discipline we are inconsistant and/or it was a badly thought out model in the first place.
Rhetorical question but it makes you think!

I find that EEC model is missng one thing and thats the check part.This help the feedback become interactive so this is what I have added to this model
I have used E Example of the observed behaviour
E Effect describe the effect it is having
C Check the recipient agrees ask questions like Where you aware..? Had you noticed..? Is that the way you see it? etc
C Change how to move forward
