I am involved as a facilitator in an online conference http://socialnets.org/program.html, and Inotice that although it's an international group of attendees, the majority of committed people and thinkers are from N America.Has anyone here been involved in this kind of online network/ action forum?

Yes…..
Hi Joanna
One of the most successful online conference events I have been involved in was held last year… it was national (Australian) conference all of which was conducted over a 2 week period online with 2500 participants.
There were a set of keynote “presetations” – all of whom were located overseas and all of which had active discussion forums with keynote speakers for ( I think – memory??) 5 days after the presentation. Delegates had to enrol for these key notes but could join in the discussions.
There were numerous other forums; many were advertised and could be “signed up for” ; others emerged through the 2 week period.
Nancy White was one of the facilitators/key note speakers. It was basically targeted at the voactional education sector which does alot of online learning. It was an excellent conference!
Wish I’d known about it!
I have just had a look at the site – I wish i had known about it! Looks like it is is almost over?
For anyone interested to learn more about Communities of Practice / online social networks check out the link Joanna has given above!
OSN conference
Re Sue’s comments – no it runs for 2 more weeks. The first week (just finished) was opening, get-to-know-you discussions, and intros to the presenters and their topics. Still worth joining, I’d say.
