IT system for NVQs

default-16x9

I am two months into a new job and have been assigned with developing an NVQ strategy to take forward the organisation's commitment to NVQs as the main source of accredited learning and development. To support this aim and to make NVQs more accessible to potential candidates, I am considering looking at developing an elearning approach (to support candidates rather than replacing formal training etc) through the organisation's intranet. I am interested in hearing from anyone with experience of developing such a system (as I have absolutely no experience of this). I am currently thinking that the system would allow candidates to develop their knowledge and understanding through on-line workshops, Q&A, quizzes and access to guidelines for portfolio building etc as I often believe that the fear of building the portfolio can take away from a candidate's participation or engagement in effective learning. Thanks in advance for your help!!

There are currently many packages available for recording and communicating with candidates, Quickstep is one of them. I am currently trying to develop, a similar environment, ideally this will have exactly what you have you have described, another idea i have is to have an online discussion area, where candidates can all go on-line at the same time and discuss issues that they may have. A bulletin board is also a good idea, so that queries can be posted, i have in the past used e-mail for on demand advice and guidance. The candidates like this method, as if they have a problem they are not waiting until the next session for advice. Hope your ideas come to fruit, due to lack of time, i have found the development to be a slow process.

Nigel, there is a company who have this set up, I used them with npower when I worked there, the company name was CVT and the system they use ENVQ worked well, in saying that you really need for all candidates to have access to PC’s at least 4 hours per week, in a call centre environment this was not a problem
