Hi everyone

I would like to carry out an evaluation research about the relationships between learning styles, and passing the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) tests with a UK organisation employees, where I am involved currently, whose average age is circa 40, who are IT illiterate, and also have been away from formal education for some considerable time, and who are about to be made redundant.

Is there a particular learning style that intrinsically helps learners learn and pass the ECDL tests faster and successfully? If there is then I (the trainer) may have to adjust the training to this particular learning style.

I receive various comments (positive, negative and constructive ones) on my training delivery. I have been experimenting on each ECDL module and thus far I haven’t managed to get it right.

I am interested in this topic because (i) I am now negotiating for another similar project with two different companies, and (ii) it would be useful and benefit me, as a practitioner, in the near future when I am involved with similar project.

I shall use literature research for the learning style theories (Honey & Mumford and et al) and questionnaires (with varieties of open and ended questions as well as closed and categorised questions) to ascertain my findings.

Does anyone know if a similar research has been carried out and where can I find it? I would also accept your comments on my proposal if it were educationally viable and beneficial. Many thanks.
