Hi
I know a lot of coaches advertise on this site and I'd just like some pointers on getting into coaching. I'm currently working as an IT trainer but would like to combine it with something else and coaching is something that interests me a lot. I've been checking out courses and would like current coaches' recommendations. The ones I'v looked at so far are CoachU and one in Ireland called www.lfi.com. What advice would you give someone like myself who visualises herself doing this part-time mostly from home...
Thanks
Anne

Coaching courses
Hi Anne
I’ve just qualified having trained with the Life Coaching Academy, http://www.lifecoachingacadmey.co.uk. It’s a mix of a residential course and distance learning. The other option is to visit http://www.coachville.com an American site which has a lot of coaching information. There is also the UK College of Life Coaching that do course.
The main thing is to be able to network and practice with other coaches and this is part of the course with the LCA.
I am currently working at evenings and weekends doing coaching to build up my practice if you want to talk phone 01324 872097.

Result LifeCoaching – the only one worth considering
I have just completed an intensive 3 month programme with Results LifeCoaching. The process is fantastic, the output is clear, inspirational and challenging goals for the client and the emotional journey for coach and client mean both get somthing from the relationship. There is also a great network of other coaches to support you. For UK Co-ordinator and to find out more visit the website as they have free info evenings

Gettinng into Coaching – Choices and needs
Hi Anne
Read your e-mail and thought that although there are lots of training programmes I could recommend, without having a better grasp of some your basic needs it would be hard to suggest a course.
Things you might want to consider include:
What learning format suits you best i.e. face to face, large/small groups one to one; distance learing; e-learning?
How much money do you want to invest in your complimentry career – course fees in England can range from £0 to in excess of £2500.
How long a training programme do you want to take? short two day intensive to get you started? 1 year course? Diploma or MA or MSc?
How do want to want to balance/integrate your IT work and coaching?
The best recommendation I can make is that you try the taster sessions offered by most of the coach schools if you are planning to do any course over 6 monthts in length.
Also go to
http://www.coachfederation.org.uk/coach_training.htm
Which gives details on course accredited by the International Coach Federation, which is the leading professional body for coaching worldwide.
My personal experience mirrors your own in terms of building up the coaching business gradually – admittedly I learnt this the hard way.
I am running a conference to help coaches tackle issues like the ones you have raised on Wednesday 6 November.
Give me a call if you would like further help or information 020 8959 0566.
Happy coaching

Coaching
Hi Anne, I would highly recommend the UK College of Life Coaching and I’m currently studying with them for a Life Coaching qualification. If you visit their web site – all will become clear! Please contact me if you wish to discuss this further.

Thanks for all comments
Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. I’ve checked out several websites but the one I’ve been most impressed with is the http://www.coachueurope.com even though they are quite pricey..I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?
Thanks
Anne
