I'm almost at the end of my CTP at the moment and am still (just about) on course for a distinction. I'm just wondering what the percentage of people achieving pass, merit and distinctions is. And also will getting a distinction put me in a better position in terms of employment than if I got a merit?
Thanks

I am not sure it makes that much difference
I have never asked for, or been asked for grades but I am more interested in the fact that a trainer has taken some ownership of their personal development.
A trainers practical experience and the way that they come over on interview will be the deciding factors.
I do not think I would be swayed either way by grades of qualification unless two candidates were indistinguishable in any other way and I have never seen that happen yet.
I agree!
Hi. I received a distinction for my CTP although would have been just as happy with a merit. If someone I was interviewing had a distinction over someone with a merit I certainly wouldn’t lean towards them just because of this.
Provider
To be honest I’d be more concerned about the provider of the CTP than whether someone achieved a distinction. I’ve used the CTP for many years as a baseline qualification for my teams. Last year I used another provider and was surprised at how light the content was.
My experience of dealing with the CIPD recently was also poor – they didn’t understand the entry requirements for their own programme and their adminstration and customer handling was shoddy. If they don’t start paying attention to quality, the CTP may be replaced as the employers preference of qualification.
