I am looking for some training material to put together a half-day course on assertiveness for staff. My target audience a batch of newly recruited employees dealing with ITES related jobs.I would need game and exercise based training as its very difficult to keep the attention of this very enthusiastice and energetic group!!!

survival exercise
Deepti
there are a number of paper survival exercises; lost at sea, NASA, Desert survival for example.
They are most often used in teambuilding programmes but I used the lost at sea one recently in an assertiveness workshop to generate real behaviours of assertiveness, passiveness, agressiveness….it worked really well.
Use the link below to get a copy of the NASA exercise if you want to try it

Good luck

Re: Assertiveness
I would recommend using exercises such as the one’s suggested; you could also look at Trainerbase: (www.trainerbase.co.uk) for more resources or have a look at my resource downloads: (http://www.trainerbase.co.uk/VIP/VIP_Resources.asp?UserID=2702)
I have the Desert Survival exercise there as a free download.

Assertiveness training
Hi, Not sure if it would be of any use but there are free e.learning resources available on BBCSKILLSWISE. their free course on Confidence has some great tips and hints and self analysis questionnaires.
Might be worth a look.
Kind Regards

Online Assertivess Resource
Games and exercices are included in this online resource. The tutorial ‘Assertiveness at Work’ at jedlet.com could be an in-class tool for your training session.

Practice
Hello Deepti
How about giving them a basic scenario or them picking a typical situation they might have at work, and then them demonstrating what aggressive, passive and assertive behaviours would look like in dealing with that situation? You could introduce each style, get them to discuss what that would look like and then act it out – ending with the assertive style.
