Internal Accreditation

default-16x9

I have been tasked with setting up an internal accreditation system for soft skills courses. Individuals have attended a course & have submitted varying standards of work that have been verified by managers. What experiences do you have of setting up and implementing an internal accreditation system?

Any feedback gratefully received.

Thanks

  1. Clear Standards
    Hi Sophie,

I’ve been involved in some internal accreditation a few years ago to satisfy regulators. We had to accredit managers in skills such as performance management and coaching.

To be truly successful, it is essential that you have a clear set of standards (behaviours) that you are looking for in the assessment. It’s also best if these are recorded on a standard form, which would be the case if it was an external assessment.

We actually observed the individuals conducting coaching sessions and scored them against the criteria we set, offering feedback on what they did well any any further improvements.

If you are interested in seeing a sample form, let me know.

The other key thing to be aware of is consistency. If more than one manager is verifying work, then its essential that someone takes responsibility for internally verifying the assessment decisions. This could be done by sampling a small percentage of the recorded decisions.

    Hope this is helpful
    Kind Regards
