Terms and Conditions for Course Bookings

default-16x9

As a training provider, I offer 4 skills courses designed for the hospitality industry.

As I am new to the freelance game, was wondering if anyone has copies of Booking Terms and Conditions, so that I can send these out with my Course Booking Forms.

What do I need to include? What do I need to watch out for?

Would appreciate any help/advice given

Welcome to the world of freelancing!

You may want to give some serious thought to the interpretation of “cancellation” and the difference between that word and “postponement”……
A course that is “postponed” by a client, til the following month, say, is still a booking, but the dates you set aside for the client are now unsold and non earning. Your cashflow is also affected. These can be very big factors for you whilst being little issue for the client.

Also beware of clients wanting courses “tailored” for no charge…..it seems innocuous at the time but can be a very expensive activity for you. Developing a “pilot” for no charge can be very expensive if no following courses run for reasons not related to the quality of the course (eg we have run outof budget!)

You also need to be aware that the job isn’t over til the money is in the bank. In many organisations the finance department works to rules that are not the same as your buyers…..eg 30 day months, single cheque runs, 60 day payment periods….utter panic at VAT return quarter. These can create humungous delays in payment.

Also beware of IR35 issues where the finance department suddenly decides that they cannot pay you without a certificate from your accountant signed in blood by the light of the full moon.
    Hope this helps
