product Training

default-16x9

Hi everyone. I am calling on the experts who visit this site for some advice.
I work for a telecomms company that are in the process of launching a suite of new products. These include Fixed line telephoney, Broadband.
The target date for launch of these products is 1st Oct 2007 but we are only at the stage of signing contracts with external suppliers. As a member of the HRD team we are tasked with ensuring that our workforce have the skills and knowledge to support these new products whether this be in a sales role or from a technical persepctive.
Does any one have any ideas or expericence of a similar situation in which they have had extremely tight deadlines but have used creative way to get info across to delegates? I believe this has been done in other telecomms companies in a short space of time and am very open to any ideas?
Many thanks,
Julie Grundy

  1. How about a roadshow?
    Hi Julie,

I used to work in a similar organisation with the same restrictsons on time we would offten put on product roadshows. We would visit each site 1 day at a time and offer fun “get to know the product” workshops. It was very interactive, fun and could be rolled out quickly.

If you need any more info please contact me on: Sleahy@awtxglobal.com

    Hope that helps!

  2. Virtual Classroom is the answer
    Dear Julie

Given the nature of your business and the short time scales you are working to I would suggest you consider using virtual classroom technology. VC is relatively quick and economic to implement and is ideal for rapid product roll-out training.

Many of our telecoms sector clients make very productive use of Virtual Classrooom for this type of application.

Here are a set of links for VC and web conferencing providers you could consider talking to:

    http://www.webex.co.uk/
    http://www.gotomeeting.com/
    http://www.saba.com/products/centra/
    http://www.interwise.com/

Many of these offer free trial options and all of them will offer you some form of user training to cover the software functionality.

However, do not underestimate the specialist skills needed to use VC effectively in order to achieve genuine learning (as opposed to communication or awareness) outcomes. To ensure you have these skills within the company I suggest you consider the TAP role certificate in e-Learning Training Skills.
