Management & Leadership quote – can you help?

default-16x9

Some time ago I had a good quote on Management and Leadership that I used in training. I can remember most but not all of it and can't now put my hands on it after a job move etc.
It was quite long, and includes 'whoever heard of world managers? World Leaders yes...' and ended with 'if you want to manage someone, manage yourself yourself, that way you'll be ready to stop managing and start leading' or thereabouts.
Anyone have a copy they could send me or a website link where it appears?
Many thanks.

  1. Here you go
let’s get rid of management. People don’t want to be managed. They want to be led. Whoever heard of a world manager? World leader, yes. Educational leader. Political leader. Religious leader. Scout leader. Community leader. Labour leader. Business leader. Gang Leader. They lead. They don’t manage. The carrot always wins over the stick. Ask your horse. You can lead your horse to water, but you can’t manage him to drink. If you want to manage somebody, manage yourself. Do that well and you’ll be ready to stop managing and start leading.

Couldn’t tell you where it’s from though.

  3. Leadership
Please see below, I love this one!

A leader is best when people barley know that he exists. Not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worst when they despise him.
Fail to honour people, they fail to honour you.
But a good leader, who talks little, when his work is done, his aim is fulfilled, they will say, “We did this ourselves”
