I am looking for information to help me deliver a presentation skills training programme. I wish participants to consider the different styles/approaches to presentation delivery to people from various different cultural backgrounds.

Hi Lena,
As a good start point check out the web site for Global Excellence – http://www.global-excellence.com. From there talk to Richard Cook who runs the company as this is a very specialist area and if you want specific examples it’s best to get them from someone who really knows.
Cheers,
Megan
MBTI & Cultural Issues
I don’t know if you work with the MBTI, but there is a wealth of research info detailing cultural differences against the type framework. For example, the Extraversion-Introversion set of preferences look very different in the USA, especially when compared to Northern European countries. Happy to point you in the direction of research papers/references if you want explore further. Regards, Conall
Cultural Aspects of Presenting
A good book to read is called When Cultures Collide by Richard D. Lewis. This book explains how different cultures work in autonomy then examines in the workplace. Now although the information is directed at managing a multi-cultural workforce, the book is designed in such a way that it would be easy for you to glean the information you need about presentations – eye contact, body language to use and not to use, verbal language to use (and not). It’s an excellent reference.

Good luck.
