Training in grammar minus the snoring?

default-16x9

Does anyone have thoughts on how to tackle refresher training on the use of grammar for a group of Insurance Brokers, that does not drag them back to schooldays or send them to sleep? Their first language is not English- but they do use it every day for business purposes. I am running a two day writing skills course and this issue needs to be addressed as they have the predictable problems with tense, etc. Must be something fun we can do.

  1. Eats, shoots & leaves
You could try reading Lynne Twiss’s bestseller ‘Eats, shoots & leaves’ for inspiration on how to make this subject area entertaining and for some good examples on punctuation.

  2. Eats, shoots and leaves
Another recommendation for Eats, shoots and leaves. Brilliant book, and hugely entertaining.

  3. Quizzes and games?
How about some on-line quizzes based around the grammar rules? I use a quiz web site http://www.quia.com to test learning in a fun and more interesting way. They have a 30 day trial period and lots of different quizzes and games that you could adapt to your subject matter.
    Hope this helps
