I work for a company based in Telford, Shropshire. We are a large employer in the area with key staff in our Customer Service Department, UK Sales Force, own Distribution Fleet and National Distribution Centre.
As a company we hold Investors in People Standard and within this is that companies benchmark to share best practice and learn. This year, my Manager set the team an objective that we carry out 4 bench marking visits each to companies within our sector. I work within the Training Team as Senior Trainer looking after the Head Office Personnel. I have so far visited 2 companies but am finding it increasingly difficult to find willing volunteers as people see my visit as a spying mission!!
The purpose of my visit is not a spying mission!!! Simply to learn about the company and see where we similar in practices and procedures and also differ. There will be key areas where I will focus on:
Recruitment Process
Induction Programme
On Going People Development/Training
Personal Development
Encouragement/Rewards
Communication
Community Activities/Involvement
Anyone interested? I would really like to hear from you to perhaps set a meeting up this year or early next year. I would of course give you an open invitation to visit my company.

Helping out!
Hi Marie –
I am based in South Shropshire and work across the UK and Europe – please take a look at our website to see what we do and whether you think we can help. My background before going in to T&D was sales and retail so I have lots of customer service experience.
best wishes

Open Offer
I have recently started in the newly made post of Training Officer for Skill Force (www.skillforce.org)having come up from the “ranks”. I don’t think this is very similiar to your line of work but am interested in offering any help in return for a understanding of how other businesses are run. The key areas you highlighted are of great interest to me.
