Effective Report Writing

default-16x9

I have recently been asked to deliver a report writing course to a number of senior technicians in a financially based business. Sound easy? Well, on closer examination of the facts this is not a report writing training need. The potential delegates are highly qualified and experienced indivduals who are more than capable of writing reports. What appears to be lacking is the ability to read what the client wants to see in the report and tailor it accordingly. They are churning out routine reports which do not light anyone's fire. I feel this is more a client management issue than a straight report writing problem. Does anyone have experience of a provider who might tackle this effectively?

  1. Can’t help myself…
but I think you might want to talk to some sales training providers.

Reports with zing, tend to include emotive terms and finance typically is not a place where emotion is highly regarded (for very obvious business reasons).

So you may find that you’re not looking for report writing training as such but more of an “emotive approach” to language which would be a sales type thing.
